Steel, receipts, rubber tine covers
Along thin steel wires, washed out paper hangs like laundry. The dimensions are familiar, with crisp, uniform side edges and you can recall the sound of them slipping out from a narrow slot. Picture them sitting, crumpled, in the bottoms of my bags, in pockets, or littering junk drawers. Each paper is (was) a receipt, a record of exchange, a short story. Here they've been uncrumpled and their chemical coatings have been washed away along with the information they carried leaving them blankish paper.

“Step Around” is a body of work that is ongoing and began in 2016. Through the iterations of each piece, “Step Around persists to assert itself while simultaneously threatens to conceal itself under the veil of multiplicity.
Using the nuance of the domestic, the work establishes itself as a tangible and familiar object and offers an opportunity to reimagine our relationship to it.
